Prompt: Gina, @ d’Verse Poets, asks us to write a nonfictional Haibun (short prose + a matching haiku) around the idea of a picnic. For today’s poetry pole poem, I posted Max Garland’s “Happiness“.

I want to live on your street, Sabio!! When my children were small, we lived in such a neighborhood. Today, everyone seems glued to the TV after dinner, except for an occasional dog-walker.
I adore this, Sabio. There is something so wholesome and life-affirming about your actions, as reflected in your haibun. I like the nifty formatting as well.
I never heard of a poetry pole but I like the neighborly feel of this haibun; it’s heart-warming.
What a wonderful idea… to really interact with the neighbor like that. I must remember to do this.
this is just lovely Sabio, a glimpse into the now, the present and presence you bring to your community. that pole is quite genius, and i so so very love how it blossoms and bursts into chats. you make a difference where you are planted dear poet.
I like the thought of picnics as ways to avoid isolation.
I agree, what a wonderful idea to relax, drink wine, read poetry and interact with the passers by. I love that poetry pole.
great addition to the poetry pole, maybe a couple of extra chairs and glasses are called for 😉
