Never Gonna Learn
We’ve all had love that makes us burn,
and know we rarely get another chance,
it is the type of lust that deeply hurts
and makes you step into a crazy dance,
where passion rarely moves with true restraint.
I’m SuperMan while she is Louis Lane.
And though my loving hits may make her faint,
she knows she’ll run back to me once again.
Sick and twisted is that fuzzy feeling,
it’s so insanely great when going good,
It’s the bites and hits that keep us reeling,
I want to stop, I know I really should (but)
I’m just gonna stand here and watch you burn,
When the fuck are we ever gonna learn.
(Ever gonna learn?)

Prompt: Kim, at d’Verse Poets, ask us to choose a modern popular song, preferably one that everyone knows, and re-write it as a Shakespearean sonnet, which can be serious, humorous or just plain silly! See if you can guess the song. After several guesses (folks hopefully get it right away), I will tell the song that inspired this sonnet.
