Prompt: “Open Mike” d’Verse Poets Pub.
Background: This poem is not about the Wizard of Oz (and I wrote it before the recent movie came out). Instead, it is a tool to illustrate some psychological principles (one of my obsessions). As I read poets, I’ve notice their obsessions, but I never thought much about my own obsessions until reading Tony Hoagland’s chapter on “Obsessions“. Tony poetically shares the double-edged side of obsession.
Comment Suggestion: Before commenting, click my link above to read Tony’s short chapter on “Obsession“, then tell me what principle(s) you think I am obsessed with in this poem or general (if you know my other writings). And then, if you feel brave, share with us your obsessions.
