Afterword: This poem is my response to Karin’s prompt over at d’Verse Poets where she invites us to explore chiaroscuro. “Chiaroscuro” is an artistic word coined in the 1680’s combining Italian words for clear (‘chiaro’) and obscure (‘oscurare’) to describe the rich use of darkness and light in Renaissance compositions. Karin challenged us to explore the truths waiting for us behind the shadows. Or at least that is how I used the prompt.
