You wallow in sickness I can’t treat
You are killed by murderers I can’t stop
You confess miseries which I can’t touch
Tonight, I toast you in my uselessness
— Sabio Lantz
Notes: Victoria at d’Verse Poets prompts us to write a poem in the 2nd person. I am writing this quickly as there are only few hours left for the prompt. I scrapped my other poem ideas after hearing the news of the Connecticut school massacre tonight. I heard the news after a very sad work week — I work in medicine. Friday nights I usually come home to a relaxing drink or two.
